Mozilla Plans To Develop Firefox For iPhone!

Mozilla Plans To Develop Firefox For iPhone!
The latest tweets from Mozilla officers show company's interest in releasing iOS version of Firefox browser.

Mozilla is yet to release an iOS version of its Firefox browser. Users have been demanding Firefox for iOS for quite a long time now. However, Apple doesn't let any third-party browser to stick to their own web engine for security reasons. Even team Mozilla wants to put out iOS version of their browser.

Mozilla’s VP, Jonathan Nightingale has disclosed his secret wish of putting out iOS version of Firefox. However he didn't mention company’s approach of development. Apple has strict privacy policy regarding browser. So there is least chance that Apple will let Mozilla use their own web engine in Firefox for iOS app. May be they will launch a browser app powered by Apple Safari Engine with custom Firefox UI layer on it, like Google does with Chrome.

People working at admin-level positions in Mozilla have leaked the news of Firefox for iOS via their Twitter accounts. Lukas Blakk, Mozilla Release Manager tweets, “We need to be where our users are so we're going to get Firefox on iOS #mozlandia.” While another tweet comes from Matthew Ruttley a data science manager at Mozilla. He writes, “Firefox for iOS!! Let's do this!!! #mozlandia #awesome #mozilla #teamNightingale”

It’s surprising to see Mozilla to launch something on iOS platform after the trouble they had to go through for Firefox Home. Google Chrome on iOS provides real-time syncing with other Google products and hence it interests the users. Hard-core Firefox fans who would want to see their bookmarks and passwords being synced on desktop as well as iPhone/iPad browser will be interested in Firefox for iOS. Let’s hope that Mozilla ads some plugin for the same otherwise, it is hard for Mozilla to attract Chrome and Safari users on iOS.
