Students said after completing their classes they used to donate their movie and entertainment time to the building of Swayam satellite.

Amongst the 20 satellites launched by ISRO is Swayam, which was fully conceptualised, designed and brought to reality by the students of the College of Engineering Pune (COEP).
DREAM ACCOMPLISHED
The engineering students at COEP Pune are rejoicing as their dream of eight years was finally fulfilled. "This mission... started with a concept from a civil engineering student who wrote the seed of sending a satellite in space 8 years ago, he worked hard with a team of students and convinced the COEP faculty." said Sandeep Meshram, Associate Professor, COEP.

- It placed the new generation earth observation satellite( Cartosat-2 Series) and 19 others in the designated polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO).
- It's a crucial step to become a key player in the multi-billion dollar space launch market.
